Decorative Paneling For Your Home 02

Remodeling House Ideas : Decorative Paneling For Your Home 02

The Project

1. Pry the baseboard from the wall, taking care not to damage it. Turn off the electric power and install box extension rings around all wall outlets. These metal collars will allow each outlet to be brought to the wainscoting’s surface.

2. Decide how high your wainscoting should be. Measure up from the floor and, with a level, extend a line around the room or those wall segments you want to cover. Use a stud finder to locate the studs that will hold the cap rail and the baseboard.

3. Wearing safety glasses, cut the first section of paneling to the height between the floor and the level line, using a heavy-duty circular saw, an easy-handling 4- to 5-inch trim saw or a combination multitool depending on the paneling’s thickness.
