Applying wainscoting is one of the easiest ways to perk up a room. The term refers to the decorative paneling or planking and trim attached to a wall, extending from the floor to either chair-rail height (36 inches) or plate-rail height (48 to 60 inches). Bead board (individual tongue-and-groove boards) is commonly used to create
wainscoting and is available at home centers and lumberyards.
